New Year’s Eve has never been a big party night for us as a family! We have done various things over the years and a quiet New Years Eve with family or a few friends is perfect for us! Somehow, this year an email sent on Monday that said “Hey, is anyone in town, does anyone want to steam oysters with us?” turned into a full blown party. You know what, it was so much fun. Decorations were gathered on a whim, a menu was set complete with friends contributing a dish or two of their choice, and games were picked literally the night before! Easy, fun games that I will post about because it was perfect for guests ages 9 and up!
Maybe 2016 will be the year of spontaneity for me. That would be a miracle. I am a planner – rarely, okay never impulsive and even the question from the kiddos of can everyone spend the night, didn’t phase me at all. Although, my husband did reply first – “sure, why not” and for a moment, I thought are we crazy and then I thought maybe we are, but its more about making memories than the fact that I may not sleep New Years Eve night! So we did it, we had the party with some of our favorite families, all the kids slept over and everyone showed back up at our house the next morning for breakfast! I must admit that my husband is the perfect host. He really is, it is a team effort and he loves having everyone over. If it were up to me, I would have had the energy to serve only donuts this morning instead of donuts, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, grits and pancakes! So this is one for the record books, we hosted our first New Year’s Eve party and New Years Day breakfast. Now to get started on eating healthy again!
